Earthquake Readiness Drill

Following the lectures—conducted both online and face to face—participants engaged in a simulated earthquake drill that closely replicated real emergency conditions. The UPRI team placed visual indicators to mark broken glass, restricted areas, and injured or hysterical individuals, effectively portraying realistic hazards. The photos below capture the sequence of events during the drill—from the moment the alarm was sounded, to the participants’ duck-and-cover response, followed by the orderly evacuation toward the designated safe zone, and the systematic sweeping of all rooms to ensure that everyone was safely evacuated. UPRI teams were

stationed across all four floors—from the first to the fourth—to observe, document, and assess the participants’ responses and coordination throughout the exercise.

The debriefing session highlighted key lessons learned and reinforced the importance of preparedness, both in the workplace and at home. The event concluded with closing remarks from Vice Chancellor Maria Vanessa Lusung-Oyzon, who commended the organizers and participants for their active engagement and encouraged everyone to continue cultivating a culture of safety and disaster readiness within the University.
