As one year ends, another year begins – therefore providing a great opportunity for every organization to align individual aspirations with the organizational objectives which shall cement a roadmap for the organization’s success. Hence, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) Central Office conducted its strategic planning workshop held last November 20-22, 2025 in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Presided over by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Maria Vanessa P. Lusung-Oyzon, and attended by all Administrative and Research, Extension, and Professional (REPS) staff, the three-day activity aimed to review the organization’s 2025 accomplishments, assess internal systems, identify gaps that require strategic action, and set goals for the upcoming year.

The OVCAA Central strategic planning activity involved three workshops, namely (1) Realignment of Assignments and Functions, (2) 2025 Performance Assessment of OVCAA Central, and (3) Strategic Priorities for 2026-2028 and Continuity and Transition Planning. These workshops provided the following key outputs – the 2025 Accomplishment Report, the 2026 Proposed Realignment Plan, and the OVCAA Transition Plan to support a smooth turnover to the incoming VCAA.
The activity also provided an opportunity for the staff to come up with strategies in dealing with potential challenges that may arise in the next calendar year, to be reminded of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) policies and procedures that may be relevant to the staff’s work-related tasks, and to evaluate not only the quantitative results but also the qualitative aspects of their contributions over the course of the year.

Truly, the OVCAA Central strategic planning activity is not just another administrative event. It is a catalyst that drives culture, engagement, and growth within OVCAA Central. By celebrating achievements, fostering accountability, setting goals, and embracing feedback, the OVCAA Central had laid the foundation for a prosperous future as it ended with a synthesis of the agenda and recognition of the contribution and participation of each OVCAA Central staff member.
